Brief statement of the problem to be addressed by the project:
The current lack of national unity and economic opportunities for many citizens of Iraqi is contributing to the increased sectarianism and conflict within the society.

The youth are particularly
vulnerable to the influence of sectarianism but offer
the greatest hope for the future of the country There is
a need to develop and strengthen the civic mindedness and
engagement of the younger generation in order to increase
their |

understanding of their
roles and connectedness to the broader Iraqi society and
build a culture of trust and reciprocity. There is also a need
to provide the youth with some basic skills as well as
opportunities to channel their energy into
creative and productive activities. |

Project goals and objectives:
The overarching goal of the project is to improve democratic
governance in Iraq by expanding civic participation, with a
focus on the younger generation. A motivated and mobilized
citizenry that demands accountability of its government is a
vital component for Iraq's transition to full democracy. |
