The overarching goal of the project is:
- Improve democratic governance in Iraq by expanding civic participation,
with a focus on the younger generation. A motivated and mobilized
citizenry that demands accountability of its government is a vital
component for Iraq's transition to full democracy.
- Generating civic activism among Iraqis young men and women and rallying
communities to address public issues will be crucial steps in achieving
this goal.
- Youth are the
strategic focus of this program because youth connect all elements of
society and young leaders can serve as catalysts for change.
- By focusing a
community’s attention on retaining and engaging its youth, the community
can rally to support the youth in their endeavors to improve their
community.
